Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Philippians 4:6 – 7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

REFLECTION

I don’t know if you have ever lacked peace? Peace is among the treasures that you can never buy in a store or obtain from anybody. I remember King Saul, God sent an evil spirit to torment him. Saul knew no peace and David had to be hired to play music for him to calm him down. Things would be good for a limited time, David had to be sought when the evils spirit strikes.

There are things we do to make ourselves happy but that joy is limited. All the drinking of alcohol and wine, looking for beautiful girls and handsome men, living a luxurious life, buying a big car/machine, owning properties and accumulating money in the bank, the list is endless. All these things are good but they can never give us peace. We will be merry yes, but it is short lived. Let’s us seek for the peace of God.

Isaiah 26:3 above says, “Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee” meaning it is the business of God to keep whoever has his/her mind fixed on Him in perfect peace. Not only peace but perfect peace. Our mind is stayed God as we continue to have faith in Him and to involve Him in our lives through prayer.

Philippians 4 above talks about making our request, prayers and petitions be know to God. Paul urges us to pray about everything then he adds “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. When troubled we lack peace in both our minds and our hearts and Paul assures us of a peace that nobody can comprehend after prayer. We may not come out of the prayer closet with an answer but peace is guaranteed.

Peace gives life joy and meaning. You cannot be able to think straight when troubled. Even our sight is blurred in the absence of peace.

God cannot give us peace if we are not in Christ. We must be born again to experience the gifts of the kingdom of God. Find peace with God first if you have not surrendered your life to Jesus.

PRAYER

Oh Lord God almighty, I come before you this morning to pray for my heart. Teach me to fix my eyes on you that my heart will be stayed in you. I desire to know peace that is from you; the perfect peace that transcends all understanding. This I pray in Jesus name.

REPENTANCE PRAYER

(say this prayer if you have never said it)

Lord Jesus, I acknowledge I am a sinner in need of your deliverance. I believe you died on the cross for my sake. I repent my sins and welcome you into my heart; cleanse me with your blood and forgive my sins. I acknowledge you as my Lord and savior. Teach me to fear you and to walk in the knowledge of you. This I pray and believe, Amen.
