Hebrews 2: 6 – 8

But there is a place where someone has testified:

“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, a son of man that you care for him?You made them a littlelower than the angels; you crowned them with glory and honor and put everything under their feet.”

REFLECTION

God created everything we see and what we do not see. In all His creation He values man more. With all our shortcomings God loves us unconditionally. The scripture above is very weighty; it shows how much God values us.

God is not only mindful of us but has also crowned us with glory and honor and to make it juicier He has put everything under our feet (authority).  In Genesis one when God created mankind, He blessed them (both male and female) and instructed them to be fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth. Rule over the fish of the sea, birds of the air and over every living creature on the surface of the earth. This blessing is confirmed in our today’s reading.

God has invested so much in us.

Walking in spiritual authority is walking in the will and the desire of God. It is not what we can do or have done but what God did when He created us.

The reason why we struggle to be what God created us to be is because of sin. Adam and Eve relinquished their authority to the devil when they disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. When Jesus Christ died the bible says He descended to hell and and took the keys of hell and of death. He took back the authority that we lost through Adam. The bible says through one man (Adam) sin came into the world and through one man (Jesus Christ) we are made righteous.

That is why Christ who called the disciples in Matthew 10:1 and gave them authority and also the 72 that he sent two by two, He gave them authority. The bible says if a man is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone and the new has come. Which old man goes? The defeated, sinful, weak and the fearful.

When you know who you are in Christ you will not have a problem walking in the authority that God has given us through Christ Jesus.

A pastor gave us this testimony one day, he used to live in fear and timidity until he read the scriptures and understood the authority that God has given us, actually the above scripture says God has put everything under man. Immediately he realized this truth he started exercising his authority in God. He rose above fear and self-pity. One day as he was coming from a night vigil, he was stopped by thugs who were armed. He drove a few miles and pulled over his car and walked out. They thugs were standing on the other side of the road when they stopped him. When he came from his car he asked them in a loud voice, “What are you doing there?” before they could answer he exclaimed, “When I open my eyes I don’t want to see any one of you standing there!” without uttering any word they all fled. He went back to his car and continued with his journey. Great!

The truths of the bible are perceived in the spirit. They can never work for you if you have not captured them in the spirit. If you try addressing armed robbers without revelation you will not succeed. It is until you know who Christ is and what He did for us that you can be able to walk in authority otherwise you will remain a slave to fear which is not the will of God.

If you make an investment you expect results, this is the same way God expects us to bear fruits for Him. He us endowed us enough therefore, lets’ make use of the grace He has provided.

I choose to walk in the authority of God through Christ who died for me.

PRAYER

Lord God almighty, I thank you for the cross. Thank you for what Christ bore to set me free and to give me back the authority I lost to sin. Help me to walk in the fear and the knowledge of you that I will no longer be a slave to fear even as your word has said. I take back everything that I lost to the enemy in Jesus name.
