1 John 3:8

He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Romans 5: 12

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.

Romans 8:34

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

REFLECTION

The first and foremost role that brought Christ here on earth is to die for our sins; sin opens the door of affliction. God had blessed man and placed him in the garden of Eden with all the provisions he needed (the original plan of God). When sin came, the same God who blessed mankind pronounced a curse on Adam, Eve and the serpent. This forms the basis why the devil afflicts us.

When conducting deliverance, you may struggle with a certain evil power because of sin. Repentance is key to exercising spiritual authority.

I love reading 1 John 3:8 it excites my spirit. The scripture says whoever sins is of the devil since the devil sinned from the beginning. The devil never created anyone, but he gains authority over us through sin. God being God, started by sending His only begotten son to die for our sins and that why the scripture says, “For this reason the son of man was revealed to destroy the works of the enemy”. Jesus started from the roots. That is why salvation is key to walking in spiritual authority. If you are not born again or you live a compromising life you cannot be able to walk in the authority of God.

When Jesus was on earth, he went healing the sick, casting out evil spirits, raising the dead and setting the captive free. He walked in the power of God because He was tested in every manner like us yet without sin (He had power over sin). The bible tells us He died and rose again and is now seated at the right hand of God interceding for us (those that believe in Him). The question now is what about the sick, the lame, those in prison, the dead? If Jesus is interceding for us who should heal the sick? Set the captive free? That is why He gave us power and authority to continue that which He had started here on earth.

Jesus did not leave the work unfinished because He gave us the mantle to us so that we can continue from where He left. The bible says, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you”. This is what happened to the apostles. The same Peter who had denied Jesus stood up and spoke to a multitude of people on the day of Pentecost and 3000 men gave their lives to Christ.

There is work to be done. Let us yield ourselves to God, Jesus and to the Holy Spirit so that we can continue with what Jesus started (destroying the works of the devil). The demons will bow not to us but to the name of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 22:44

“The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”

The first Lord in Matthew 22:44 refers to God and the second one to Jesus. That’s why it is written every power and every knee shall bow to the name of Jesus Christ. We are only ambassadors appointed to enforce an already won battle. The devil knows he has no right, just do your part of reminding him and he will flee. He takes advantage of our ignorance, permissiveness and fear.

PRAYER

Oh Lord God almighty help me to walk in the truth of your word and to keep off from fear so that I can be able to walk in the authority that you have given me in Christ Jesus. Help me to live a repentant life and to daily crucify the flesh so that I can be able to master sin. I pray for more grace in Jesus name.
